Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about using Pgrus.

General

Pgrus is a startup discovery and investment platform where builders showcase their projects and investors find early-stage opportunities. Think of it as a place where the people building the future meet the people who want to back them. The platform features project listings with upvoting, AI-powered valuations, deal rooms, direct messaging, and an investor directory.

Those platforms are registered funding portals that process investment transactions directly. Pgrus is a discovery and matchmaking platform — we help builders and investors find each other, share information, and collaborate through deal rooms and messaging. Any actual investment transactions happen off-platform between the parties involved.

We also offer features those platforms don't, including AI-powered project valuations, a social upvote feed, direct messaging between users, and a searchable investor directory.

Yes. Creating an account, listing a project, browsing projects, messaging, and using the deal room are all free. We may introduce premium features or fees in the future, but we'll give at least 30 days' notice before any changes.

You can view project listings and use the AI valuation tool once without an account. To upvote, message, access deal rooms, or express investment interest, you need to sign up.

For Builders

Anyone working on a project — founders, developers, designers, marketers, operations leads, co-founders. You don't have to be the CEO or write code. If you're part of the team building something, you're a builder.

Sign up as a builder, complete your profile, and submit your project through the project submission form. You'll need to provide a project name, description, website, equity offering details, and traction metrics. Your project goes live after you complete identity verification.

The more detail, the better. At minimum, include what you're building, the problem you're solving, your traction so far (users, revenue, growth), how much you're raising, and what equity you're offering. Projects with strong descriptions, real metrics, and team information get significantly more investor interest.

The deal room is a private space for each project where you can share documents, post updates, and communicate with investors who have expressed interest. Only you and approved investors can access it. Think of it as a secure data room for your raise.

Currently, one account manages each project listing. We're working on team collaboration features. For now, one builder account submits and manages the project.

The valuation tool analyzes your project's website and publicly available information to generate an automated valuation estimate. It uses a combination of web scraping, AI analysis, and statistical modeling. The result is an estimate — not a professional appraisal. It's useful as a starting point for conversations with investors, but shouldn't be treated as definitive.

No. Pgrus does not take equity, commissions, or fees from your project. We are a platform, not an investor.

For Investors

Browse the homepage feed to see trending and recently listed projects, or use the search and filter features to find projects by category, stage, or funding goal. You can upvote projects you find interesting and express investment interest to access a project's deal room.

Expressing interest signals to the builder that you're potentially interested in investing. It's not a binding commitment or a financial transaction. It grants you access to the project's deal room where you can review documents, ask questions, and communicate directly with the builder.

Pgrus is a discovery platform. We connect you with builders and provide tools to evaluate opportunities. Any actual investment — the terms, the legal agreements, the money transfer — happens off-platform between you and the builder. We strongly recommend using a securities attorney and standard investment instruments (like a SAFE or convertible note) for any transaction.

We require builders to complete identity verification and agree to provide accurate information. However, Pgrus does not independently verify the financial claims, traction metrics, or business viability of any project. You are responsible for conducting your own due diligence.

Certain investment opportunities may require you to verify your accredited investor status. This involves completing KYC Stage 3, which may include providing proof of income, net worth, or professional certifications. This process exists to comply with securities regulations and protect both parties.

Yes. Startup investing is inherently risky. Most startups fail, and you should only invest money you can afford to lose entirely. Pgrus does not guarantee any returns. Past performance of any project or builder is not indicative of future results.

Accounts & Verification

Pgrus uses a staged verification process:

Stage 1 — Email Verification

Confirm your email address through a verification link. Required for all users.

Stage 2 — Identity Verification

Submit a government-issued ID to verify your identity. Required to list projects or access deal rooms.

Stage 3 — Accredited Investor Verification

Submit proof of funds or accreditation documentation. Required for certain investment features.

Identity verification protects everyone on the platform. It helps prevent fraud, ensures builders are real people with real projects, and satisfies regulatory requirements around investment activity. Your verification documents are encrypted, reviewed only by authorized administrators, and deleted after review.

Yes. Your account supports both roles. You can submit projects as a builder and browse investment opportunities as an investor from the same account.

Go to Settings > Delete Account. Your personal data will be removed within 30 days. Some data may be retained where required by law. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.

Click "Forgot password?" on the login page, enter your email, and we'll send you a reset link. The link expires after a set period for security. If you don't receive the email, check your spam folder.

Security & Privacy

We use TLS encryption for all data in transit, AES-256 encryption for sensitive data at rest, row-level security policies on our database, hashed passwords, rate limiting on all sensitive endpoints, and security headers on every page. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

No. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to anyone. We do not use advertising cookies or behavioral tracking. See our Privacy Policy for details on the third-party services we use to operate the platform.

Your profile name, username, bio, job title, and any information you choose to add is visible to other users. Your email address is never publicly displayed unless you include it in your bio. Your KYC documents and verification details are never visible to anyone except authorized Pgrus administrators.

Contact us at security@pgrus.com with details about the project or user and why you believe it's suspicious. We take fraud reports seriously and will investigate promptly.

Pgrus works on all modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. We recommend using the latest version for the best experience.

Not yet. The website is fully responsive and works well on mobile browsers. A dedicated mobile app is on our roadmap.
